President Reagan
I had the honor and privilege of photographing President Reagan when he visited Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska in September of 1988.
Some of these photos were used in the 1988 Hastings College yearbook. I shot these photos with a Canon AE-1 on Kodak Gold ASA 100 film.
My press pass allowed me to be with three other photographers in the roped off area directly next to the podium. I think one of the other photographers was from the Omaha World Herald, one was from the Hastings Tribune and the other was an AP or UPI pool photographer that traveled with the President. I can tell you that he was bored while the rest of us realized how lucky we were to be chosen to photograph the President of the United States.
It may not show in the photos but I was literally 3’ to 4’ from President Reagan. I could have easily reached up and shook his hand. To this day it remains one the biggest honors of my photographic career.
