A Day in The Life: Barrett Jackson 2018
January 20. 2018
When you hear the words “Car Auction” they are usually synonymous with “Barrett-Jackson”. Widely regarded as the Granddaddy of the collector car industry, Barrett-Jackson has been setting the car auction standard for 46 years. I spent a day at the 2018 Scottsdale, Arizona event which in all fairness does not do it justice. More than an auction, Barrett-Jackson is an annual “Lifestyle Event” where car enthusiasts from all over the world converge to see some of the finest automotive machinery ever assembled. This year more than 1600 vehicles were up for grabs by more than 100,000 visitors over the 10-day event. The auction is broadcast live on Discovery Channel and Velocity and if you have any interest classic cars I highly recommend you add this to you bucket list. As a side note, when I was walking the mile or so back to my car when I left I looked at the license plates and counted 28 different States and 6 Canadian Provinces represented in the parking lot.
Amazingly enough I brought my Canon 5DsR with me in case there happened to be a photo op or two. I used two lenses for this shoot: a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro and a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM. Both lenses are ideal when you can get up close and personal with your subject. I went for more of an artsy-fartsy theme this year but still included more traditional images as well. Please click on our automobile gallery above to see all of the Barrett Jackson 2018 images. Maybe it will inspire you to attend one in person!
